News of Rugby in Switzerland / Women’s Team selected to represent Switzerland in Helsinki
The team which is to represent Switzerland in the next Women’s XVs rugby Test Match against Finland in Helsinki has been selected. The team is a mix of younger and more experienced players, and reflects the diversity of backgrounds and upbringings which permeates Swiss rugby culture. The team selection ranges from experienced, seasoned players like Sarah Mc Namara and Emily Hart to young and eager newcomers like Sabrina Walti, making her debut appearance for the Swiss Women’s National Team. The team has been preparing through a series of camps over the summer, for its second Test Match, following its debut against Belgium last September. After its successful outing in Bruxelles in 2011, the team is hoping for another victory against this more challenging Finnish side. The Scandinavian team has been playing in regular international women’s tournaments and competitions, while Switzerland is certainly considered a newcomer to the international stage. Nevertheless, the coaching team composed of Veronika Mühlhofer and Vincent Prébandier are confident that their team is well-prepared to face this new challenge.
